Folks,
Enough time has passed for me to vent my absolute frustration with the
Topic Maps community. In my keynote at TMRA 2008 towards the end I
mentioned (well, I said it out loud and clear!) that subject-centric
computing (and thus, Topic Maps) means and is nothing if we as a
community don't come together make it happen. And as a community we
bloody sucks!
I know a lot of you a) blog, and b) had a fantastic time in Leipzig,
yet you don't write about it. (and c) if you don't blog, then go to
blogger.com and get one!) Sure, you're all busy, and perhaps you think
what you have to say ain't all that important, but you're now proving
to me and everyone why TM isn't more widespread or talked about; *we*
don't talk about it! LarsM posted some pics. That's it. (And I've got
my ego-alerts on, so I know! :)
Sure, TM Snippets mentions TMRA 2008 here and there, but mostly as
announcements and pre-conference. Apart from my own little, hasty
(see, I'm busy too, and I managed to squeeze in at least two blog
posts about it) posts, there's been nothing. Where is our community?
Who did you talk to? What did you talk about? How was lunch? Show us
some human interactions, dammit!
Right, venting off now. But I am disappointed, and I'm not sure it's a
symptom of something bigger. Please, please, please, prove me wrong.
Discuss!
Kind yet frustrated regards,
Alexander
