Dear list members,

during the next semester (October 2007 to February 2008) we will stage
Topic Maps student projects here at University of Leipzig. This year the
students will implement Topic Maps web portals, presumably based on open
source software.

To motivate and guide the students, we are looking for real life use
cases. If you still have a need for a Topic Maps based web portal, but
you do not have the manpower to implement such a portal, please contact
us. It would be great, if we could arrange a cooperation. The students
will work on the portal for half a year, guided by our student courses.
But the requirements would be negotiated with you interested third
party. For the students you will act as "customer". So we will have a
real life situation for the students which commonly yields in quite
impressive results. (No payment is required from you for the students work.)

Please be aware that a student project is never as professional as you
can expect from commercial service providers. We will not substitute any
commercial project. Rather we envisage proof-of-concept projects,
preferably in science or education. It's quite obvious that out of
successful cooperations further research projects might emerge. Even
partners from industry are invited for cooperations. But we want to
avoid any projects with a real commercial background. Our second minimal
requirement is that we always will be free to write papers about the
created portals.

We are looking forward for your ideas! Let's take the opportunity to
push coporately Topic Maps portals. It's your opportunity to set up a
Topic Maps portal you always have envisioned for free. If you are
interested in a cooperation, please contact us off-list.

Greetings from Leipzig,
Lutz Maicher
