| Could someone explain to whom the domain topicmaps.org belongs?
|
| Did someone actually offer a plan - a clear methodology of further
| developing this site while keeping a certain balance between the
| interests of the different parties?
|
| Maybe now, after long years (as I understand), if such a suggestion is
| formed, the problem could be solved?
Ownership of topicmaps.org was kindly transferred from Michel Biezunski to
the Standards Council of Canada on behalf of SC34. It will host Published
Subjects for the ISO standards and other information relevant to the
standard. In accordance with the agreement between SC34 and Michel, it will
also host a historical archive of the activities of TopicMaps.Org -- the
organization that developed the XTM 1.0 specification.
The secretariat of SC34 is currently being transferred from Canada to
another National Body, and when that is complete formal ownership of
topicmaps.org will also be transferred. For that reason, no effort has been
put into updating the web site yet, but something will happen soon. I will
take the matter up at the next WG3 meeting in Montreal.
In case anyone is wondering, ownership of topicmaps.com was also transferred
to SC34 - this time from empolis GmbH. The plan is to use it for community
building activities, including the promotion of Topic Maps-related
conferences. We are looking for volunteers to help with this, and would
welcome a discussion of what the exact content should be, what technology we
should use, etc. (Please start another thread with the subject
"topicmaps.com" if you want to contribute to this discussion.)
Best regards,
Steve
