[topicmapmail] Topic Map Web Services

Hi,
I brought up at the ISO meeting about undertaking a work item there to
define some requirements, survey current approaches and then get something
together that maybe some of us could agree on.
However, it was decided that this was not a thing for ISO to do and should
instead be done in the community much the same way that TMAPI got done.
Given this, I am creating a new project on Sourceforge called Topic Maps Web
Service Interface (tmwsi) where I shall post an initial requirements
document.
Having people submit their current thinking and any available documentation
to the process would be very useful at this stage.
Subsequently, I plan to post a straw man proposal that tries to capture the
powerful aspects of the different services I have been exposed to (such as,
TMCore TMWS, TMRAP, RDFNet API, SNAPI, the work by Robert Barta and that of
Robert Cerny)
I would also encourage any lurkers on this list who are interested in this
subject to get a SF account and get involved. Kal Ahmed, Lars Marius and I
(with a good deal of community contribution) managed an OK job on TMAPI, and
I hope we can match or better that effort. It will certainly be quicker and
less painful than ISO.
I will post the SF project link as soon as the nice people there let me have
it. Let's go do it!
Cheers,
Graham

Subject: [topicmapmail] Topic Map Web Services
Hi,
I cite Lars report from TMRA 2006 http://www.garshol.priv.no/blog/73.html
"..Graham Moore then got up to exhort the community to create a standard web
service interface to Topic Maps servers. There was general agreement that
since we now have at least 5 different web service interfaces to Topic Maps
offered by different systems it may be time something was done about
this...."
So community, what about the general agreement? Who is interested, who has
ideas? Is there any document comparing the actual used ws-tm standards?
I just want to start a discussion, before i develop the 6th interface ;-)
Stefan
