Reminds me of a "drill-down" design pattern described in Chapter 8 of =
the book "XML Topic Maps" [1] in which "subordinate" topic maps are =
represented as occurrences (of type "topicmap") of topics in the =
superordinate map.=20
The chapter doesn't dwell on the traversal semantics too heavily =
actually. But it seems the idea is that activating the topic in the =
superordinate map would load (replacing or maybe merging with) the =
subordinate map. So, your XTM-aware client app would be traversing an =
assocation in your superordinate map, and come to a topic which has one =
of these topicmap occurrences, and your client would know to merge that =
map, which would I suppose typically contain a more detailed topic with =
the same identity as the active topic in the superordinate map.
