Oh, OK. My mistake, then. I thought the issue that the restriction to
a single locator makes it possible for topic map merges to fail (and
that this is the only thing that can cause merging failures) changed
your mind.

Actually, I'm not convinced that is true. It would be really nice if
it were, but my impression is that seeing
(uri1, uri2, <whatever>)
doesn't necessarily tell you how to interpret uri1. Sometimes the
rdfs:domain of the property would tell you, but sometimes the
rdfs:domain is rdfs:Resource and then you have no idea.
My temporary conclusion is that the best guide is rdf:type, but
whether this is really is the only guide, and whether it always tells
you what you need to know I don't know yet.
