The country of Liechtenstein used to have a wonderful site that was 
built on a topic map.  I say "used to" because that site has now been 
replaced.  I don't know if the new one is still based on a topic map or 
whether it is just a conventional portal.  It reminds me generally of 
the old one, but the old one was much nicer in appearance and easier to 
navigate, IMHO.

The Semantropic site is worth looking at  -
