I'd suggest looking at Patrick Stickler's Uriqa protocol. True, it is
as written specific to RDF, but I think it could be very applicable. I
have experimented with returning the topic map equivalent of his
"concise bounded description", and I think it looks very promising.
Patrick introduced this protocol on the RDF interest list, and he pas
posted a lot of information on it and the thinking behind it. Also see
