Matt,
| I have several projects on my schedule for which the XTM concept would be
| quite helpful, but I'm trying to gauge how active and stable the community
| and standard is. Also, the concept looks like it can get very complex very
| quickly. Any horror stories? Any happy ending stories?
Ontopia has been involved in quite a number of projects, none
of which (as yet!) has ended up as a horror story.
A lot of those projects were either pilots or are still in the
development stage, so I don't know if they qualify as happy
ending stories.
However, there *have* been a lot of happy endings. I know of
many in Norway and I'm sure there have been others elsewhere.
The presentation I gave at XML Europe in Amsterdam on Tuesday
of this week ("Towards Seamless Knowledge - Integrating Public
Sector Portals in Norway") tells one such story. You can get
the slides at
http://www.ontopia.net/topicmaps/materials/Towards%20Seamless%20Knowledge.ppt
We have other stories to tell, about Borland Softward, the US
DoE, the Dutch Tax Office, BrainBank Learning and (soon) the
Norwegian CultureNet portal, but I'll wait and see if others
involved in those projects respond first.
You mention that you've already had some responses. Can you
provide pointers to them?
Best regards,
Steve
