We started doing this. We studied how wikipedia is done. Problem is
the sql dump (more than 8GB size excluding images) that wikipedia
proejct provides essentially has only a big list of documents classified
presently into a-z categories (I mean alphabetically). The articles are
not classified into topics or into sub-topics.
So what we are doing is to import all the material into our knowledge
management application (GNOWSYS) and then publish the entire database to
the world and invite everyone to give structure to the arguably the
largest public gnowledge base.
Since GNOWSYS supports export to XML standards like XTM, and now we have
also developed OWL etc., this exercise can be done. We will publish our
version of wikipedia some time during May.
