Yes, this was the reason to allow multiple base names for a topic. If you
think of base names as characteristics of an "essential" topic (i.e., whatever
the subject is you're talking about), then any subject may have many
different characteristics, different names. You, for example have at least
two names:  ®aºû and Vince Chen. You could scope those names by their
native language, but you strictly aren't required to.

If you commonly use acronyms, you could create a PSI for "Acronym" and
scope "NKFUST" and "NKFU" as acronyms so they wouldn't be confused
with non-acronym names. Again, this isn't strictly required, just perhaps
a good idea if there's some chance of ambiguity (e.g., some acronyms
might also be the names of things, and this would keep their topics from
being erroneously merged).
