The following post on RDF Interest:

recommends "XML Topic Maps" (Addison-Wesley) as a book on knowledge
modeling. 

Granted, this posting is a shameless plug, since I'm the technical editor
of the book, but it is nice to see topic maps get a little traction, both
in the RDF world, and in the K* world.
