Yes. Just remember that the only way you can make any assertions
about anything in the topic map model is by making the "thing"
into a topic.

So if you want to make assertions about an association, you reify
it as a topic, as described in the XTM spec at
http://www.topicmaps.org/xtm/1.0/#desc-reification
