Hi,

In response to your request for examples of Topic Maps in actual use, I
wish to inform you of some work arising from my research. I plan to
build a number of applications based on a model for content integration
which uses, among other standards, Topic Maps. An example application is:

It is a Java servlet, using MPEG-4 as its presentation format. The
purpose of the application is to explore the interoperability of
emerging standards for data and metadata, Internet and audio-visual
content. From the metadata description of some audio-visual content, the
servlet automatically locates and integrates into the final presentation
additional content relevant to subjects occurring in the audio-visual
content. Topic Maps are used as the metadata layer between the
audio-visual content (MPEG-7) metadata and (XML mark-up) Internet resources.

not yet available; current plan is to have a 'finished' demonstration
for towards the end of the year

There will be a presentation about this model at the IEEE Symposium on
Consumer Electronics in Erfurt, Germany on 25th September. A paper with
more detail about the applications will be part of the conference
proceedings.

Shortly after the conference I hope to provide more details at
