[topicmapmail] topic maps ==> site maps

[Obligatory apology in advance for what might be a less than clueful
inquiry (I'm a longtime lurker and first-time poster to this list).]

I'm building a site-management tool (primarily for my own use) and have
been working my way through some topic maps reading ("The TAO of Topic
Maps" at http://www.gca.org/papers/xmleurope2000/papers/s11-01.html, the
Bond University tm tutorial at http://topicmaps.bond.edu.au/tutorial1/,
etc.) this evening.

I'm curious whether any list members know of a site where topic maps
have been or are being generated alongside or as an intermediate step in
the production of a site map / site-map-like thing. I'm thinking
especially of something like what one finds at the bottom of the CNN.com
front page (under the "MORE FROM CNN.com" header). It seems to me that
TM'ing a weblog-type site, a wiki, or some other frequently-updated site
could facilitate the creation of a more useful and/or informative type
of sitemap.

Alternatively, have any of the tm ninjas here considered turning out a
tutorial on the subject? I found a few paragraphs on generating a topic
map from an RSS 1.0 channel in a 2001 XML.com article ("Building a
Semantic Web Site" at
http://www.xml.com/lpt/a/2001/05/02/semanticwebsite.html), but that
wasn't quite what I had in mind.

Thanks,
