Hi all
I just wanted to add my small contribution to the Topic Maps project ;-)
I am currently involved in a research project about e-marketplaces =
called "KBM" (Knowledge-Based Marketplaces), in the Tech-CICO Laboratory =
in UTT (France). We are using Topic Maps and Mondeca's ITM to build our =
prototypes of websites. This could be considered as a (small) commercial =
application of the Topic Maps, as I saw a question about this in =
easytopicmaps.com.
This project is slightly different from the original uses of Topic Maps =
since we are not (really) indexing documents but we are rather trying to =
build multi-index classifications for products to improve navigation, =
and in the future we'd like to build semantic e-marketplaces. All this =
in a cooperative environnement (users of the KBM could update =
classifications for instance, or create new categories, new "topics").
So we are facing questions concerning the way to update dynamically our =
Topic Maps, so that they can be created and updated in a cooperative =
way, and not by a single author.
For what it's worth, I set up a web page containing links to other Topic =
Maps related websites, and a small explanation. It can be found here :
http://tech-cico.utt.fr/quickplace/tech-cico/Main.nsf/h_A6955585DD7B9654C=
1256AFC004C8922/B1ED6C40E7674E23C1256B18004786F1?OpenDocument
(careful, that's in french... sorry).
And from there you can download powerpoint slides (in french also) from =
a presentation on topic maps, comparing them with semantic netwoks, =
conceptual graphs and ontologies, etc...
Anyone interested, feel free to email me !
Thomas
