Biographical notice:
 
Norbert H. Mikula is Director of Architectural Services at DataChannel where he also is the technical lead for its professional services division. Norbert has developed one of the first XML parsers (NXP) and has been engaged in XML related efforts since the early days of this standard. At times he has been involved with some of the W3C's standards activities, such as the W3C XML WG (as alternate member), the W3C XSL WG , W3C RDF-Schema WG and the W3C DOM IG.
 
Currently Norbert also serves as Chief Technology Officer on the board of directors of OASIS - the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards.
 
OASIS is dedicated to accelerating the adoption of product-independent formats based on public standards. In the spirit of this goal, it is working - in diverse areas - on issues of standards, interoperability and infrastructure that foster market penetration for public standards, cost reductions for vendors, increased customer satisfaction and a higher return on investment. In its update sessions, the OASIS Chief Technology Officer will report the progress in the following OASIS technical subcommittees:
