 Sharon Adler is a Senior Product Manager of the Publishing Tools for Inso Corporation Electronic Publishing Solutions in Providence, Rhode Island. Prior to this, she was Principal Applications Consultant for Electronic Book Technologies, now Inso Corporation. In this capacity, she worked with customers to design and develop SGML projects, primarily converting word processing documents into SGML and other applications for style sheet definition and DTD design.
 From 1985-1992, Sharon held several key positions with IBM Corporation in Boulder, Colorado. She was the Co-architect for the Advanced Workstation SGML editor, product planner for the Publishing Systems Business Unit, and product planner for IBM mainframe printing and publishing products, including the Document Composition Facility (DCF). She was the Vice-Chairman of ANSI Committee X3J6.1 — the original committee developing SGML and is currently a member of X3V1.8 and ISO/IEC/SC18/WG8 — the ISO committee developing SGML, DSSSL, HyTime, etc.
 Sharon is the chairman and project editor a ISO/IEC 10179, Document Style Semantics and Specification Language (DSSSL), the international standard defining a Style Language and Transformation Language for SGML documents. This standard was published in April, 1996.
